Forensic construction
The application of science to decide questions arising from legal disputes over the way in which structures have been built; especially with regard to the type and quality of the structure, materials, and workmanship.
Building Pathology
The scientific study of the causes and consequences of faults in buildings. It involves the systematic investigation of the behaviour of buildings, their components, and the materials of which they are constructed. Where defects are manifest, the symptoms are methodically investigated to diagnose their causes and establish appropriate remedies. More broadly, building pathology can inform design and construction to prevent construction failures and improve building performance.
Forensic Architects
Forensic architects are registered experts specialising in building defects investigations and reports. This covers variously: negligent design, deficiencies in supervision, faulty materials and building components and/or poor workmanship.
